Successful Design. Successful Spaces. Successful People.
President & CEO
Maria Guerra-Stoll is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of GSB Architects & Interiors, Inc. She is a Board Member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and a former Chairman of the Board of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
A native of Caracas, Venezuela where architecture was commonly thought of as a woman’s profession, Guerra-Stoll graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor's of Architecture, and soon realized the profession was “different” in the United States. Guerra-Stoll learned very early in her career that she would have to work harder, faster, and smarter than her male counterparts to be successful as an architect. Becoming a successful woman in a male dominated industry has not been easy. After hitting the preverbal “glass ceiling” and realizing that she would never be able to reach her full potential working for someone else, she decided to take full control of her destiny.
Entrepreneurship runs in Guerra-Stoll’s family, two generations prior to hers both her grandparents and parents were entrepreneurs and this helped motivate Guerra-Stoll to make the decision to go into business for herself. Growing up watching her family successfully manage their business as well as the responsibility of family life gave Guerra-Stoll the will to strike out on her own when the opportunity presented itself.
In 2008, Tyler Perry was not the only one who made history with the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, GA. Maria Guerra-Stoll was the creative influence behind the architectural design of the 200,000 square foot studio lot that was then home to Tyler Perry Studios. Today Maria and her team are still creatively influencing the design of the 330 acres of open space and historic buildings Mr. Perry acquired in 2015 which is transforming into the latest incarnation of Tyler Perry Studios — a production facility that, when formally completed, will be one of the largest studios in the country.
Her hard work was recognized in 2001 when her firm was awarded, "Small Business of the Year", by the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GHCC). Since then she has been awarded and recognized by Hispanic Businesses “Top 500 Hispanic Business”, Woman Magazine “Georgia’s List of 100 Most Powerful and Influential Women”, Hispanic Magazine “Top Hispanic Entrepreneur”, Atlanta Business Chronicle “Largest 25 Hispanic Business in Atlanta”, Georgia Minority Supplier Diversity Council “Special Minority Entrepreneur of the Year”, National Society of Hispanic MBA “Professional of the Year”, and Women Business Enterprise National Council “Trailblazer Categories l and ll” to name a few.
